Recommended Caging Requirements

New World monkeys

Marmosets

For one or two animals, a cage three feet long by three feet wide, six feet high, with two perching branches and a nesting box or bag.

For each additional animal, increase cage size by 25% of floor area.

Squirrel, titus, owl, and other similar-sized monkeys.

For one, two, or three animals, a cage four feet long by four feet wide, by six feet high, with two perching branches and a nest box.

For each additional animal, increase cage size by 25% of floor area.

Capuchins & Spider monkeys

For one or two animals, a cage six feet long by six feet wide, by eight feet high, preferably walk-in, with three parallel swinging bars.

For each additional animal, increase cage size by 25% of floor area.

Old World monkeys

Macaques and Guenons

For one or two animals a cage 6 feet long by five feet wide, by six feet high, with three perching areas.

For each additional animal, increase cage size by 25% of floor area.

The above are minimum cage requirements. Cages may be larger than required, but not smaller.
