Following are links to various laws and organizations that regulate primate ownership, transportation, breeding, etc. On the map below, click on the state for which you want informaion. Please realize that we are not attorneys and that the laws and other information that we have posted may not be current as laws and permitting requirements change constantly. We attempt to post statutes which have not been repealed as of the date of posting, which date usually is referenced at the bottom of each page. However, court decisions overturning them, later statutes amending them, and a host of other factors come into play when interpreting them. They are provided here as a resource. It is your responsiblity to make sure you have the latest information concerning laws and permits in your area. A competent lawyer, who from other sources will research the law to insure what is current, should always be employed in matters of importance. Check with your state, county, city, subdivision, and other local government agencies (dept. of health, dept. of conservation, animal control, etc.) near you prior to getting a primate, to see what their laws are. While it may be legal to own a primate in your state, it may be illegal to own them in your county or neighborhood. We make every attempt to keep this information as current as possible. If you are aware of any laws that are not listed on this website, please send us as much information as possible to lawschange@monkeymaddness.com. Thank you.
